You buy credits up front through Purchase Credits in the menu. Credits are only spent when you analyze a session, so browsing, editing, and re-reading your notes is free.

• Brief analysis costs 60 credits per hour of audio.
• Comprehensive analysis costs 100 credits per hour of audio.

As an example, a 2.5 hour session costs 150 credits for Brief or 250 credits for Comprehensive.

Yes. Open Purchase Credits in the menu and pick the Subscription tab.

• Standard is $9 per month for 750 credits.
• Pro is $25 per month for 2,000 credits.

You can change or cancel anytime from Manage Subscription/Billing in Account Settings.

Credits you buy pay-as-you-go never expire. Credits from a subscription expire if unused one year after they are added to your account. If you cancel a subscription, any credits you already received stay available until they expire.

No. Record your session with whatever you already use, like your phone, the Craig bot for Discord, or OBS, then upload the file. The Recording Audio guide covers good setups for in-person and online games.

No. A phone in the middle of the table or a normal headset works fine. The recording just needs to be audible. Placement matters more than gear, and the Recording Audio guide has tips.

Yes. Transcription holds up well with ambient music and sound effects in the recording. Just keep the music quieter than the voices.

Above-the-table talk is part of every game, so it is expected. The analysis focuses on the story, which keeps rules discussions, snack runs, and side conversations out of your notes.

GM Assistant supports MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and OPUS. MP3 is recommended for the fastest processing. For tips on capturing good audio, see the Recording Audio guide.

Recordings can be up to 4GB in size and between 1 minute and 10 hours long. If your recording is larger or longer, split it and upload each part as a separate session. See Uploading Audio for multi-part uploads.

Upload your session as multi-track audio with one speaker per track, the way recorders like the Craig bot save it. Every transcript line is then labeled with who said it, and the analysis gets more accurate too. If every track captured the whole room, upload a single mixed file instead. Any role-playing system and genre works, because the tool is narrative focused rather than rules specific. Groups use it across the spectrum, including Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, and Cyberpunk RED.

Support is layered by how much testing each language has had:

• Full support: English (en).
• Beta support: French (fr), including Canadian French (fr-CA), German (de), Spanish (es).
• Early support: Afrikaans, Cantonese, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian Nynorsk, Portuguese, Tagalog, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Welsh.

Both levels produce the same sections at the same quality. The difference is depth.

• Brief keeps things concise: shorter recaps, fewer extracted characters, locations, and items, and lighter descriptions. Best when you just want the highlights at a lower cost.
• Comprehensive pulls out more entities and writes longer, more detailed recaps and descriptions. Best when you want thorough notes.

It depends on the length of your recording and how busy the service is. A 2 hour recording usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes. You can leave the page and come back later, the analysis keeps running.

It holds up well even in long, messy sessions with large parties and audience participation. Expect the occasional miss and review your notes after each session. Adding character names, locations, and items in Campaign Details improves both spelling and detection.

Yes. Open a session's menu and choose Make Public to get a link anyone can view. Visitors see the recap, characters, locations, items, and memorable moments, but never the transcript or audio. You can share a whole campaign the same way from the campaign menu. Choose Make Private to turn the link off again.

Yes. Export Session in the session menu exports your notes as Markdown, HTML, YAML, or a Homebrewery document. Transcripts download from the Transcript tab as plain text, SRT, VTT, or JSON.

Yes. Your audio is encrypted both in transit and while stored in Google Cloud Storage, and uploaded audio is automatically deleted as soon as transcription completes. You stay in control and can delete any session, recording, or analysis at any time.

Yes, the transcription and note-taking make use of Large Language Models, similar to spell-checkers, translation, and speech-to-text tools: it writes down and organizes what happened at your table. However, there are no generative features that create content like artwork, backstories, or plots. The story stays yours.

We never train AI on your data, and most of our AI runs on our own solar-powered hardware. Read our full stance at gmassistant.app/ai.

No. Your audio, summaries, and notes are kept private and are never used for training, and never will be without your explicit consent.

Yes. Open Account Settings and choose Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm your identity first. Deletion takes effect immediately: any subscription is cancelled, you are removed from our mailing list, and the account cannot be recovered.

Because of the high cost of processing and storage, we cannot guarantee refunds. That said, if an analysis fails after you were charged, reach out through the in-app Feedback button or at support@gmassistant.app and we will put the credits back.
