August Updates: Con Season, Survey Results, and Subscription Pausing

(the photo in the background is my modest Gen Con haul)

Hello!

Coming at you hot off the heels of GalaxyCon, Gen Con, and a week of "staycation". Special thanks to those of you that answered my dorky questions on camera. We asked dozens of GMs what their biggest struggle is and, beyond the universally agreed upon "scheduling", folks mostly mentioned some variation of "keeping players engaged" and, of course, "keeping track of what happened". Keep an eye on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube for the clips.

Q2 Survey Results

Most of our active users got a July(Q2) Survey, thank you to those who filled it out. The headline: analysis accuracy ratings are up on every dimension. That's exactly what we were going for after Q1, when accuracy was the most common frustration, so it's nice to see the work paying off.

Memorable Moments has also climbed from 10% to 17% of respondents' favorite feature.

GMA Updates

  • Pause your subscription - Campaign on a break? You can now pause your subscription for 1-3 months in Account Settings instead of cancelling and coming back later.
  • Transcript exports - Transcripts can now be exported alongside a single session, and you can choose Markdown format for easy importing into Obsidian.
  • Delete just the transcript - You can now delete the transcripts for a session without deleting the session itself, keeping the notes and analysis.
  • Security upkeep - AI has made finding and exploiting vulnerabilities a lot more accessible to bad actors, which raises the bar for anyone holding your data. I spent some time this month on security hardening to keep pace.
  • Fixed - False "edited elsewhere" conflict errors when only one tab is open.
  • Fixed - A rare case where an analysis showed as finished before its content was saved, which could look like missing results.

What's Next?

Single-mic speaker labels - The big one. Speaker labels have made a real difference for multi-track groups, and bringing them to everyone recording on one microphone is the next thing up. Still no promises on dates as this one will sit with our Alpha testers for a bit, it's important we get this right.

We are listening - We get a lot of requests and feedback, and I read all of it. We do not plan to expand GMA into a full fledged campaign manager anytime soon, but we do want the tool to be easy to use, and if you want to use a campaign manager, we want it to be easy to get your data there. Requests like campaign search, better organization and entry of campaign details, and extracting additional information from your sessions are high on our list.

I'll be making a brief pitstop at DragonCon in Atlanta in a couple weeks (our affiliate Dungeons and Randomness will be performing there, go catch their show). Same deal as always, no booth, just hanging out. Say hi if you're around.

Dungeons and Randomness live at DragonCon 2026

See y'all in September!
