August Updates: COVID Recovery and Homebrewery Export

Hello!

The past month has been a whirlwind for me. Went to GalaxyCon and Gen Con, then got COVID (my first time)! Knocked me out of commission for about 2 weeks. That means there haven't been a lot of advancements for GMA I can report on, but now that I'm mostly recovered, it's time to focus on delivering SO MUCH before I’m distracted by the next con, PAX Unplugged in November.

šŸ’” Fun fact: Did you know GMA already supports Dark Mode? It uses your system settings! We will likely add an override for this in Account Settings soon.

What's New?

Export your sessions directly to Homebrewery

Homebrewery is a very popular tool in the D&D community. It's a great way to create formatted handouts/pages in the style of classic D&D modules. You can tweak them how you see fit and even export to PDF.

Here's how to use this new feature:

  1. Select Homebrewery export format - From your session's export options, choose the Homebrewery format
  2. Homebrewery export modal

  3. Choose the fields and their order you want to export
  4. Homebrewery export field seletion modal

  5. Edit/tweak/etc in Homebrewery - Use the edit link to customize the styling, layout, and content to your heart's content
  6. Homebrewery export success modal

  7. Share from Homebrewery - Once you're happy with your customized document, you can share it directly from Homebrewery with your players or save it as a PDF for offline use
  8. Homebrewery export page example

Session Recap Improvements

New recaps should now have little to no mention of recaps from previous sessions that were said/read to the party during the session.

What's next?

The Roadmap has been tweaked, here's a few things coming up next month:

  • UI flow rework, replacing the current "Upload & Analyze" → "Copy to session" flow
  • Many other UI improvements
  • A new, mysterious, special analysis option
